What should I be paying?
In its attempt to conquer Europe, Genesis is offering something it calls the Five Year Care Plan. This begins before you buy the car, when a ‘Personal Assistant’ will guide you through the process and deliver a car to your door for you to test drive.
Once you’ve bought the car, you get a five-year warranty, five years of complimentary roadside assistance, free over-the-air updates and five years of servicing where Genesis will collect your car, drop off a courtesy car and then return it once everything is complete. This is supposed to be a proper luxury experience at a mid-level price point.
If you’re thinking of leasing a GV70, a base-spec diesel with no options will cost around £530 per month on a three-year deal with a £5,000 deposit. In cash, that £39,450 entry point is around £4,000 less than an entry-level BMW X3.
If you do buy a GV70, though, bear in mind that you’ll have to explain to everyone what it is, and you’ll have to explain to any passengers that the button to open the boot is on the rear wiper.
