car reviews

Not a bad effort from Mercedes. Even if the Disco Sport is more likeable and Kodiaq more practical

The Chevy Colorado impresses with a great powertrain, but lackluster interior materials make this brand-new truck feel old

The MX-30 is an interesting if muddled car, and one not quite as deft to drive as its name suggests

Land Rover stuck to a winning formula with the introduction of the second generation Evoque, and it remains a stylish, accomplished choice

A big French hatch might be an oddball choice, but the 508 looks bold, feels good and drives (mostly) well

This is a car that reaches the parts no other can. A symphony of engineering purity, weight-saving purges and mechanical artistry. It will almost certainly never be bettered

Merc's C-Class on stilts impresses as a hybrid, and majors on softness and luxury. Far from cheap, though

VW’s flagship SUV is a strong all-rounder and hugely capable both on- and off-road, but it's no cheaper than its premium badged rivals

A likeable Swiss Army knife. Used to be a bit bland but it now stands out and will shrug off anything thrown at it

BMW i5 is part car, part ecosystem. Even so, it’s rewarding to drive and the cabin is world class

Genesis’ big plush SUV looks and feels as premium as any of its rivals, but can’t quite compete when it comes to driving dynamics

Take one Mercedes A-Class, subtract practicality, add style

The right badge on the wrong car? Perhaps not. It's a cracker to drive

Very popular and with good reason: the Q5 is a posh family crossover done well

The Solterra plays to Subaru's strengths, and while it's not the best all-round EV out there, it's more engaging than you might expect

This reworked RS4 shows how committed RS GmbH is to creating cars of real character. A bit uptight, mind

Crossover'd A-Class is an improvement on the old one and will no doubt sell very well. But a GLB is the better choice

The Forester is undoubtedly a capable companion, but it’s let down by its pointless hybrid range and dated cabin

An Audi RS that nails its basics but also sprinkles in some genuine fun. A proper E63 and M5 rival

The new Kona Electric is just as competent as before, but with more of all the good stuff. Well done Hyundai

Sorry, purists. Porsche’s bestselling car in the UK is the most complete small premium SUV money can buy
